What’s special about Rochester Student Housing?

What about internet?
The homes typically run wireless internet of one router and the student share the cost of one Road Runner service.
Can I park my car?
Yes. Many homes have two car garage and all have off street parking - so no street parking! Each student has a designated parking spot and in general you can get in and out without having to move other cars.
Are there washer and dryer?
Yes. All homes have washers and dryers for the students to use at no additional cost. A few homes have two washers and two dryers so that you can run two loads at the same time.
What is the distance to the Medical Center, Medical and Nursing School?
Walking! The Medical center is across the street and about 100 yards from the Crittenden Blvd homes. The Medical school is in the medical center less than 5 minutes walk. The nursing school is on Castleman - less than 5 minutes walk from ony of the homes and closer from the 168 Irvington house (2 minutes).
Do I need furniture for my room?
Yes. Most of the student rooms are for you to furnish. A few of our rooms do actually have furniture. Among those are the lower level suit at 94 Raleigh Street, Master South at 94 Raleigh Street, the penthouse at 115 Irvington Rd, the penthouse and master South at 44 Irvington Road. A few more rooms are furnished and you see under room descriptions what there is
Are common areas furnished?
Yes. Common area are fully furnished in all houses. There are sofas, tables, rugs, paintings, chairs and lamps. TV are typically provided by the students, but four homes actually have TV sets; 168 Irvington Rd has a large wall mounted 42 inch flat screen TV and 115 Irvington Rd has a 37 inch TV. 62 Raleigh Street, 95 Crittenden Blvd, 141 Rossiter Road, 226 Castleman Road and 44 Irvignton Road has 40 or 42 inch flat screen TV's
Cable TV?
The students decides among them selves if the need to have Cable and which service is right for them.
What is the best way to contact you?
Email. The best way to contact us is via email. To request a room use email and we will tell you about availablity.
Can I have over night guests?
Yes. Only one person can be living in the room you rent, but guests are allowed.
How long is the lease?
12 months. We can provide a shorter lease - $50 extra per month
Security deposit - when do I pay and how much?
You pay security deposit when you sign the lease and secure your room. The security deposit is equal to one month's rent.
When do I pay the first rent?
You pay first and last month's rent on the first day of the lease.
Are there air conditioning?
All homes have central air conditioning. All third floor rooms have powerful split unit high efficiency a/c.
Do I need a car?
No. You walk to school. You may need a car if you have off site rotations or like to travel the area, but to get to school you certainly don't need a car.
Can I walk to School?
Yes. You walk to school in a few minutes. You will actually be living closer to the Medical Center and the Nursing School then any of the University parking areas.
Are there other students in the area?
Yes. The White Coat Village is full of medical, nursing and other students. This is the number one area to live in for students related to the medical center. This is however also a very solid residential area with many owner occupied homes.
Is the furniture in the common areas shown on the website what I can expect?
Yes! The pictures on the web site are from the homes and give you a realistic view of the furniture in the common areas that you can expect to see in the house. Over time we do upgrades and refurnish but in principle you get what you see.
Do you have furnished rooms?
Yes! We have a few furnished rooms. For example the penthouses, Master South, Master East at 44 are fully furnished. The penthouse at 115 Irvignton Road are both furnished. A few more including the lower level two room suite at 94 Raleigh Street are also furnished. Take a look at the description of the rooms.
Is the furniture in the common areas shown on the website what I can expect?
Yes! The pictures on the web site are from the homes and give you a realistic view of the furniture in the common areas that you can expect to see in the house. Over time we do upgrades and refurnish but in principle you get what you see.
Can I pay my rent in advance?
Yes! It is very common for students to pay rent for the entire semester in the beginnign of the school year.
Can I bring my pet?
Unfortunately no - we do not allow any pets.
What if I drop out of school?
You will have to meet your obligation to your lease. We will work to find a new student for your room and if we do so we will release you from your remaining lease.
Are you a non-smoking facility?
Yes we are, No smoking is allowed in the house or outside on the premise.
If a roommate leaves do I have to pay their rent?
No, you will only be responsible for paying your portion of the rent for the house. Your portion of the rent for the house will not change if another student leaves.
Are the locks changed between tenants?
All exterior doors have key pad locks and the codes can be electrincally changed as often as needed. Therefore no uncertanty of who has access to the house.
What are the utility costs?
The utility costs are split bewteen the students. They are higher in the winter and lower in the summer all dependent on how much is used. The monthly average per student for gas and electricity last year was:
